Lee Hall Mansion

On my first full day of Spring Break I went to the Lee Hall Mansion in Newport News. We took a tour which was okay, I guess. The tour guide gave out some "information" that I know to only be myths (such as falling into fireplaces was the number one cause of death for women). Like a lot of these historic houses, photography is not allowed inside. So here are some photos of its exterior:

If you recall, earlier that week it snowed. You can still see some here:

During the Civil War, Lee Hall was the headquarters of Confederate Major General John B. Magruder. Here are some Confederate earthworks that have survived to the modern day:

Here is the old kitchen. Unfortunately it's now a bunch of offices. I would've loved to go in there to.

Here is another exterior shot of the mansion. This time from the other side of the building.

For more information on Lee Hall Mansion, visit there website.

As far as paranormal activity, I've read some things that say Magruder haunts the house and a ghostly mist can be seen on the grounds from time to time, but I didn't have any experience. My mother asked the tour guide if there was any activity and she said that she didn't know. Judging by a blog entry from a local ghost hunter, this may either be the museum's policy or there isn't that much activity.
